Flopoxy Fast Set Epoxy Two Part Kit - FAQ

Q- Is MakerFlo epoxy self leveling and self healing?

A- Yes! MakerFlo epoxy resin is self-leveling, ensuring a smooth, even finish on flat and curved surfaces without excessive manipulation. When working with circular objects like stainless steel tumblers or resin ornaments, the epoxy naturally flows to create a seamless coat. However, due to the curved shape, excess epoxy may pool or drip at the bottom if too much is applied. To achieve a professional, even finish:

Rotate continuously (use a cup turner for tumblers).
Apply in thin layers to prevent sagging or uneven curing.
Check for drips and smooth them out before the resin fully sets.

While MakerFlo epoxy offers durability and a glossy finish, it is not self-healing like some urethane-based coatings. If scratched or dented after curing, it won’t automatically repair itself. However, you can sand and recoat the surface to restore its original shine.

Q- Is Flopoxy UV resistant?

A- Yes, it has stabilizers/ inhibitors for UV

Q- Does this product have a strong smell?

A- It has very minimal to no smell once it's mixed, applied and cured.

Q- Can Flopoxy be used as a top coat?

A- Yes

Q- Does MakerFlo's two part epoxy need heat to cure?

A- No, Heat is not necessary to cure

Q- Is MakerFlo Flopoxy good for light colored cups?

A- Yes

Q- What temp should my work space (room) be while working with two part epoxy?

A- Between 65-80 degrees Fahrenheit

Reviews

Great product

"We use this for tumblers mainly and it sets up fast and smooth. It doesn't work as well for alcohol inks on tumblers because it sets up so quickly. It makes a great final finish coat over the top to level out and smooth the surface."

Not sure yet

"I did the 1:1 ratio and it was really cloudy after mixing for about 5 min. Once I put it on tumbler and used heat gun some of it cleared up. With me doing a light colored tumbler it did not show through as much but on a coaster you can see the clouds even after heat gun."

Belinda M. (3/5)

Cures fast!

"Excellent product! I should have read a little more because this was my fault entirely! I love the UV resin by makerflo, and I was excited to try the Flopoxy Fast Set (first clue there!) I was making some coasters, and thought this is thick! By the time I wanted to a bloom, it was already firm! However, it was still clear and free of bubbles. I have no doubt it is is excellent for tumblers! Maybe a sign I should do those now! Anyway, try it! Beautiful, clear, shiny, finish!"

Q&A

I have two tumblers currently working on. I have mixed up the epoxy mixed for 3 mins. Applied to both tumblers they have had two different coats of epoxy put on them. Both coats were hard but still tacky. If I just ran my finger over it was fine. But if I held the tumbler, it was tacky. Is there anything you recommend troubleshooting to help maybe fix this problem. Is there an expiration date on them after they have been open. Please HELP!!!
Hello Angelia! So sorry to hear your experiencing that! For any crafting help and troubleshooting questions, please email us at Sales@Makerflo.com
Bought the straight 12 ounce tumblers. Should I lightly sand them, clean with alcohol and then do my waterslide. After waterslide dries….use flopoxy???
Hey Bridget, Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, follow those steps and you should get some good results. Make sure when using Flopoxy that you mix thoroughly for 5-6 minutes.
How long should I wait to apply a second coat on a tumbler?
Hey Jessica, Thanks for your inquiry. When to apply a second coat would depend on what Epoxy you are using. If you are using Flopoxy fast set, you can apply another coat withing 2.5-4 hours. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Stephen, MakerFlo Crafts
