FAQ

DTF Transfers & UV DTF Stickers

What's the difference between DTF & UV DTF?

DTF Transfers are ironed or pressed on to soft goods (apparel & fabrics) with heat.

UV DTF PermaStickers have an adhesive backing and are applied to hard goods (tumblers) with an application squeegee.

How do DTF Transfers differ from Sublimation?

DTF Transfers differ from sublimation in a few ways:

  • DTF transfers adhere in whole to the surface of the fabric, whereas with sublimation, sublimation ink is actually absorbed into the fabric
  • DTF transfer designs can contain white and can be applied to any color apparel including black, whereas sublimation does not use, print or white ink, making sublimation better for white surfaces and blanks
  • DTF transfers can be applied to both sublimation coated apparel and blanks as well as a variety of fabrics to include cotton, denim, canvas and more, sublimation can only be applied to fabrics or apparel which are specially coated for sublimation

Can UV DTF be used with epoxy?

Yes! UV DTF decals can be used as alternative to vinyl in epoxy crafts like making custom tumblers.

For a smooth appearance and added protection, after the UV DTF sticker is applied, an additional coat of epoxy can be used on top to create a smooth surface with added protection.

What will I need to apply DTF or UV DTF?

For DTF, you will need a heat press to apply the transfer to your apparel or blank. For smaller items like coasters, a mini heat press can be used.

For UV DTF, you will need a squeegee tool to apply it smoothly to your tumbler or hard blank. A FREE squeegee tool is included with all UV DTF orders.
